Fargo, ND
Bell Tower
This project is a parking ramp and office renovation located in downtown Fargo. The deep foundation consisted of (241) 100-kip 5.5” concrete filled helical piers installed to a depth of 95’ and a torque 47,000 ft-lbs. The challenge on this project was designing and implementing a helical pier to withstand the estimated lateral wind load. (60) 24” 10’ deep casings were drilled around the installed helical and filled with concrete to account for the lateral load. This challenge was complicated further by ground water undermining these drilled casings.
