Water Treatment Plant and Intake Improvements
The Pierre Water Treatment Plant and Intake Improvements project brought the first water treatment facility to Pierre, South Dakota which was operating entirely on a well system. The project consisted of an intake facility that gravity-fed water from a screen in the Missouri River and an ultrafiltration water treatment facility. Challenges in this project included extensive marine work, a restricted construction area to allow park access throughout the duration of the project, dewatering, and a bore under a major highway. PKG self-performed 70% of the project scope, including 3,800 yards of concrete, installation, and piping to tie the 5-skid ultrafiltration system.
